Between September 19-23, a delegation of teachers and a fulltime mentor representing six programs at Ystad Gymnasium went to Berlin to attend a Teacher Academy course. The staff represented both higher education preparatory programs as well as vocational education programs. During five intense days, the group took part in a course focusing on which skills our students need to master when entering the job market – 21st century skills. The course focused on different pedagogical methods to develop these skills such as Flipped Classroom, Project-Based Learning and creative thinking tasks, which the staff got a fresh outlook on from constructive lectures and discussions with teacher colleagues from other European countries. The Ystad Gymnasium-delegation were also treated to a guided tour of the central parts of Berlin – as well as making trips on their own to Alexanderplatz, the Panorama-museum and took a boat ride on the river Spree.
